Monica Abbott Signs Partnership Deal with the University of Tennessee Ace Pitcher Karlyn Pickens for Marketing, Branding, and NIL Opportunities

Kansas City, MO— Olympic softball legend Monica Abbott has officially joined forces with University of Tennessee star and All-American pitcher Karlyn Pickens. Abbott, renowned for her unparalleled achievements on the global stage, will lend her expertise to support Pickens in her personal marketing and branding initiatives, helping to elevate her profile as one of the nation’s top softball athletes.

Pickens, SEC’s 2024 Pitcher of the Year, has been making waves as one of the premier collegiate pitchers in the nation and is known for her poise, power, and dedication to the game. She is ranked #4 in the top 100 collegiate softball players in the nation by Softball America and is known for her 76 mph fastball which is the second fastest pitch ever thrown by a softball player, behind Abbott’s World Record of 77 mph. The partnership with Abbott is a significant step in Pickens’ journey as she looks to solidify her impact as an athlete and a public figure.

“I’m so grateful to have Monica by my side as I look to grow my presence both as an athlete and as a person,” said Karlyn Pickens. “Her experience and success have inspired me throughout my career, and I’m excited to learn from her and take my personal brand to the next level. This is an incredible opportunity, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.”

Abbott, who has made history as one of the most dominant forces in international and professional softball – including numerous NCAA records while also playing at the University of Tennessee - will provide valuable guidance and mentorship as Pickens works to build and manage her own personal brand and vibrant fanbase in the world of softball and beyond. Abbott’s vast experience and influence within the sport will play a key role in shaping Pickens’ public image, while also helping her maximize potential sponsorship and media opportunities.

“I’ve always been passionate about helping young athletes succeed, both on and off the field,” said Monica Abbott. “Karlyn is an incredibly talented pitcher with limitless potential, and I’m thrilled to support her as she navigates new opportunities. I look forward to helping her craft a brand that aligns with her values and aspirations while also achieving some big crazy fun softball goals.”

Abbott and Pickens teamed up at Abbott’s 2024 Speed Retreat for the Nation’s Top High School Pitchers, which provides high-level instruction and mental game preparation for high school pitchers looking to play collegiately.

Pickens and the University of Tennessee Softball Team kick off their 2025 Season on Thursday, February 6 against the University of Nebraska in the annual NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida. Other non-conference games to watch include the February 21st match up against UCLA, and the March 11 game against Duke University. SEC play begins Friday, March 7 against the University of Georgia.
