Hi Everybody! How's it going?
Well, here I am back in Japan with Toyota getting ready for our Opening Day on April 21, 2013. Playing softball in Japan has been such a blessing to me. It's hard to believe this is my fifth year with Toyota- time has flown by! I guess that's what happens when you're having fun, and that's probably why Michelle Smith played over here for so long (about 16 years!). Time flies when you are playing a game you love.
A lot has happened since my last blog. Have you noticed any of it?
Some of you may know that University of Tennessee retired my jersey last month, and now my college # 7 will forever be in the history of Tennessee athletics. It was a humbling and awe-filled moment. When you are in college, playing and even right after you graduate... you really don't realize how special those times are with your teammates, coaches, trainers, friends and teachers. I can truly say that, when the #7 was unveiled, I saw the countless times in the weight room, the laughter in the bull pen and the countless people at the University that helped me get to that very moment. I am forever grateful for them and the Volunteer Spirit.
You may also have heard that I am now working with Jaeger Bands—a baseball… and now, softball training company for throwing. That means, overhand and underhand, people. Anything we can do to strengthen and stabilize our shoulders for a more effective pitch or throw on the run (to get the speedsters out) in our game is huge. Check em' out and tell them I sent you. And of course, if you are reading this you have seen this awesome new website! Holla!!! For that one : -)! Now you can keep track of my social media buzz on monicaabbott.com get up-to-date news, pictures, events and you can even email me with questions, or appearance requests.
I'll be rocking my Live2BringIt necklace as Toyota takes on Renessas this weekend at the Nagoya Dome! It's a rematch of the 2012 Championship game that was 10 innings vs. the, Yukkio Ueno, and it will be a good one! When your next game comes up, remember to stay in the moment, love the moment and most importantly Live2BringIt in that moment!
